About ImageSplit

What is ImageSplit?

ImageSplit turns one image into a clean set of equal tiles for social posts, posters, print projects, and creative layouts. No account or software is needed: choose a layout, check the preview, and download the result.

How it works

How to split an image in 3 steps

    Choose a grid size

Pick a quick template such as 2×2 or 3×3, or use Custom Split to set the exact rows and columns.

  3. 3

    Download your pieces

Export PNG, JPG, or WebP files individually or together in a numbered ZIP that keeps the order clear.

Features

Why choose ImageSplit?

Built for speed, privacy, and a clean hand-off from one source image to finished files.

100% private & secure

Images are processed locally in your browser. There is no image upload API, account, or cloud conversion queue.

Instant results

Pick a layout and create files on this device instead of waiting for a remote processing job.

Original pixels preserved

Each tile uses the source pixels for its region. Choose PNG for graphics or JPEG/WebP for a smaller download.

Flexible grid options

Start with common templates, then use a custom grid from 1×1 through 10×10 when the project needs an exact count.

Works on any device

The tool is designed for desktop and mobile browsers, with the same local-only processing model on both.

Smart numbering & ZIP download

Files are labelled in reading order so a print stack, social upload, or multi-part design stays organized.

Tips for your next image split

Start with enough pixels

A dense grid makes every tile smaller. Use a high-resolution original, especially for posters and 9- or 12-piece layouts.

Plan the seam

Keep faces, headlines, and important details away from a cut line. Reframe in the task-specific tools when the layout needs a crop.

Use the right publishing order

Instagram profile puzzles use a different upload order from a normal reading-order grid. Grid Maker gives the correct preview and sequence.

Choose the dedicated print tool

Use Split to PDF when paper size, page numbering, trim marks, margins, or overlap matter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an image splitter?

An image splitter cuts one picture into equal tiles. This page is the full ImageSplit splitter: templates for common grids, a custom 1–10 layout, and numbered downloads without an account.

Is ImageSplit free?

Yes. You can split images without an account, watermark, or daily cap on the tool itself.

Are photos uploaded to a server?

No. ImageSplit reads the file in your browser, runs the work in a local worker, and downloads the result from memory. There is no upload API for your images.

Which formats can I open?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. GIF uses the first frame only. Output tiles are PNG, JPEG, or WebP. If the browser cannot decode a file, ImageSplit reports the error locally instead of sending it elsewhere.

How do I split a photo for an Instagram profile?

Use the 3×3 template here for a reading-order grid, then open Instagram Grid Maker if you need crop and files numbered for upload. Profile puzzles post file 1 first so the newest photo sits top-left.

Can I choose an exact number of rows and columns?

Yes. Custom split supports 1 to 10 on each side. Dedicated pages also exist for 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 12 pieces when you already know the count.

Will splitting reduce quality?

Tiles keep the source pixels for that region. Start with a large photo and use PNG for graphics or high-quality JPEG/WebP for photographs.
